This is a custom Canary and Patagonian Rosewood joiners mallet! The outside of the head is canary wood and the inside, wedges and handle are Rosewood. This thing is heavy! It weighs in at appr. 30 ounces with no added weight! I hand carved the handle using a 100 year old spokeshave and rasps. The head is cut with a 5 degree taper on each side. Everything is sanded to 220 grit and then finished with Walrus Oil and then Wax. This helps protect the head and keep that awesome color! This mallet has a leather face to help with hitting metal objects. My personal mallet has this set up, I use the leather face to secure my holdfasts and other large metal objects. I still do not recommend to hit small or sharp metal objects.

Also, the handle had a small crack at the base, this does not make it defective or limit the mallet, but it is filled with Starbond Black CA glue. It is very durable and adds a great look!

This mallet is hand made, and being such is not perfect or free from imperfections. These will not hurt the functionality of the mallet. It is recommended to be used with wood and not to strike metal, especially sharp objects that can splinter or break the wood.
